Apple and LG collaborate on folding iPad and MacBook
According to Korean media "TheElec", Apple is working with LG Display (LGD) to develop folding OLED screens with ultra-thin glass for future iPad and MacBook models.
The report pointed out that LGD is working with Apple to develop a foldable OLED screen, which is a folding screen designed for tablet computers and laptops, and the screen protection layer is made of ultra-thin glass instead of polyimide (Polyimide) .
After LGD supplied Lenovo with the ThinkPad X1 Fold's first foldable laptop screen in two thousand and twenty year, the company will supply Hewlett-Packard (HPQ-US) with a Seventeen inch foldable OLED laptop screen this year.
The size of the folding screen developed for HP this time is Seventeen inches, and it is eleven inches when folded. This is a four K screen resolution screen with UHD.
LGD plans to start mass production of the panel in the third quarter, with an estimated output of Ten thousand units.
