Apple's OLED MacBook Air is being developed using a Samsung display 13.3 inch panel
According to Korean media reports, Samsung Display is developing a 13.3 inch OLED panel for future MacBook Air models, and plans to gradually convert multiple Apple product lines to OLEDs.
In addition to MacBook, LG Display is also developing OLED screens for the new generation of 11 inch and 13 inch iPad Pro, but lacks sufficient capacity to produce OLED panels required for MacBook Air, which led Apple to ultimately choose Samsung.
It is said that Samsung Display also plans to develop 11 inch OLED panels for next year's iPad, indicating that Samsung Display may snatch some orders for 11 inch "iPad Pro" from LG Display.
According to the current development products, Apple is preparing to launch new OLED versions of iPad Pro, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and other models.
The report said that the release time of OLED MacBook Air is uncertain, and they believe it may take about two years.
Display industry analyst Ross Young previously stated that he expected the "MacBook Air" equipped with OLED panels to be launched in 2024.
Samsung's project to develop 13.3 inch OLED panels for MacBook Air is actually an experiment in large-scale production of future MacBook Pro OLED panels.
