The Technology Department of the Ministry of Economy, together with the Taiwan Display Industry Association (TDUA), Group Innovation, Youda, Dayun Precision and the Institute of Industrial and Research, published high-value, production line transformation and upgrading and advanced display technology applications in Touch Taiwan 2021 today. The institute has developed a "low diffraction transparent panel structure design, which greatly reduces the diffraction intensity of transparent display, makes the text and picture on transparent Micro LED display clearer, and promotes Taiwan's competitive advantage in transparent Micro LED display system and application.


According to Wu Zhiyi, director of the Institute of Electronic and Optoelectronic Systems of Taiwan Institute of Industrial Research and Research, Taiwan Institute of Industrial Research focuses on Key enabling technology. In view of the problem of light diffraction caused by background light through transparent display panel, the design of low diffraction transparent panel structure developed by Taiwan Institute of Industrial Research can improve the visibility of transparent panel background. Taking "diffraction intensity" as a criterion, the diffraction intensity of most transparent displays is about 30%~40% at present, but the technology of Taiwan Institute of Industrial Research can be less than 1%, which is helpful to expand the application of transparent displays in medical AR surgical information, smart windows of mobile vehicles, etc.


Furthermore, the Taiwan Institute of Industrial Research also developed "panel-level rewiring layer RDL technology ". The panel-level RDL rewiring layer technology developed by the Taiwan Institute of Technology and Research compared with the RDL, made on the wafer substrate or the RDL line on the PCB board can control the warp of the panel in the process at 1%, while the wire width and wire distance of the thick copper wire can reach 2 um. Therefore, it can integrate functional components, such as RDL integrated communication filter can be encapsulated with 5 G communication chip to meet the needs of thin and short circuit area.


Wu Zhiyi further added that at the same time, panel level RDL technology can also be used in the Micro LED display panel drive line, increase panel design elasticity.
