LCD panel maker Innolux Corp said yesterday that as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to drive demand for laptops, tablets and TVs, it is optimistic about panel demand in the next 12 months.

The Miaoli County-based company said that as workers and students increasingly work and study remotely, the pandemic has driven demand for electronic devices, which has led to strong revenue growth and manufacturing for panels. The business heralded a profitable quarter.

Innolux has suffered losses in the past seven quarters.

The chairman of the company Hong Jinyang told the media: "Our competitors say that strong orders will continue until December, or even the first quarter of next year, but we are confident that our business prospects are even better than this." Taipei Briefing.

Hong said: "We believe that even in the post-pandemic era, the family economy will promote sustainable growth." "We are optimistic about our business prospects. In the whole year of next year, demand will not be a problem."

Hong said that laptops, tablets, TVs and other devices will benefit from this demand wave.

As a result, the industry is in a healthy state due to the phasing out of panel production by Samsung Electronics and the balance of supply and demand for LCD panels.

Data released by TrendForce Corp on Tuesday showed that due to tight supply, the price of 55-inch TV panels this month has risen by 6.9% from the previous month, while the price of notebook computer panels has risen by 3.2%.

TrendForce said that the price of large flat panels this quarter will increase by 10% compared to the previous quarter, adding that the shortage of driver ICs used in displays and chips has caused problems for shipments of certain panels.

Yang Zhuxiang, vice president of Innolux said that Innolux will try its best to meet the needs of panels mainly used in information technology applications.

Innolux launched its first flat-panel satellite antenna in collaboration with Kymeta Corp. yesterday, and the company has received funding from Microsoft Corp. founder Bill Gates and other investors.

Innolux stated that it has assumed that it will ship these antennas to US customers. These antennas can be installed on airplanes, vehicles or ships to access the Internet via a satellite connection.

Ting Chin-lung, head of Innolux Technology Development Center, said that new products are vital to Innolux, which can revitalize outdated and less advanced fabs to produce new products.

The company expects to adopt its antennas on a large scale in the next five years.

Innolux said that by the end of this year, SpaceX, founded by Tesla CEO Elon Musk, will gradually increase demand after assuming that it will provide Internet connection services through the company's low-earth orbit satellites.

Ting said that Facebook Inc and Amazon.com Inc are also building their own low-Earth satellite networks, which shows that the technology has huge growth potential.
