Korean research team develops new technology for manufacturing Micro LED pixels
The research team of Professor Yong-Hoon Cho from the Department of Physics of the Korean Academy of Science and Technology (KAIST) has developed a core technology for manufacturing ultra high resolution LED displays. Through focused ion beams, 0.5 micron LED pixels have been achieved, which is less than 1/100 of the average thickness of hair.
Professor Yong Hoon Cho's research team has developed a technology that can be used to produce micron sized LED pixels using focused ion beams without the need for complex pre and post processing. The advantage of this method is that by controlling the intensity of the focused ion beam, the shape of the light-emitting pixel can be freely set without causing any structural deformation on the material surface.
