Samsung Display will rely on China for more than 90% of its LCD panels

According to Korean media reports, Samsung Display will end its LCD display business within this year. Sincetwo thousand and twenty-one, China's display industry has achieved large-scale production, and panel supply prices have fallen sharply. Intwo thousand and twenty, Samsung Display sold its LCD factory in Suzhou, China to TCL , and its domestic factory in South Korea also continued to reduce production. At present, the vast majority of Samsung Electronics' products are LCD TV, and a large part of sales are generated by LCD TV.

 

In the first quarter of this year, Samsung Display paidtwo point four eight trillion won in panel fees to China's TCL, AUO and BOE, an increase of aboutsix hundred billion won compared withone point eight six trillion won in the first quarter of last year. Panel procurement costs as a percentage of sales rose fromfourteen point threepercentage last year tosixteen point onepercentage this year.

 

The industry estimates that if Samsung Display withdraws from LCD, Samsung Electronics will rely on China for more than ninety percentage of its LCD panel supply.
