Samsung will provide 1 million foldable displays to Chinese handset makers

The report said an unnamed industry source revealed that "multiple" Chinese mobile phone companies have been working with Samsung monitors to develop foldable hardware. These third-party phones will be shipped in the second half of 2021, possibly including OPPO and vivo products. There may be folding screens like Galaxy Z Fold or Galaxy Z Flip.

IT House learned that while Samsung tends to retain display technology (including foldable displays) for its products first, its long-term success depends on selling components to third parties. Samsung, for example, made more profit from iPhone X display and chip manufacturing in 2017 than from producing Galaxy S8.

Samsung's main challenge now is to nurture the market for foldable phones.

Samsung has previously used the folding screen of its display on flat-panel Galaxy Z Fold and flip-flop Galaxy Z Flip smartphones.

Samsung Display has been trying to sign with other buyers for the past few years, but it doesn't seem to be going that well.

Huawei, for example, switched to Beijing Oriental (BOE) flexible screen after limited supply, and Samsung also faced competition from companies such as Huaxing Optoelectronics (CSOT). Samsung monitors.
