Samsung withdraws from LCD. Who will eat the big cake?
According to industry sources, as panel manufacturers continue to increase the output of curved displays and more and more brand suppliers launch related products, the global curved display market is expected to achieve significant growth in 2021.
According to Digitimes, this craze is expected to bring global shipments of curved displays to 15 million units in 2021.
According to sources, due to Samsung Electronics' withdrawal from the LCD panel market, panel manufacturers including AU Optronics and TCL Huaxing have stepped up research and development efforts on curved LCD displays. Prior to this, Samsung Electronics occupied 80% of the curved display market.
It is reported that the gross profit margin of TCL Huaxing 27-inch and 34-inch curved monitors is continuously improving. At the same time, Xiaomi has cooperated with Dell and MSI to launch 27-inch and 34-inch curved displays. Xiaomi’s 34-inch curved displays are expected to be available in Taiwan in September.
The source also revealed that other mainland manufacturers such as Huawei, Oppo and Vivo will also release curved display products later.
In addition, TV original design manufacturers including Foxconn Electronics and TPV Technology have also begun to use their TV manufacturing experience to start commercial production of curved displays.
