The price of LCD panels has entered the third quarter with the trend of rising for several months in a row for TV panels, and the price of IT panels is also quite supportive. Chen Jianzhu, a senior analyst of IDC's global professional foundry and display industry research team, said that the main reason is that the panel industry has gradually formed an oligopoly market. In particular, Chinese manufacturers are increasingly able to control panel prices, and the industrial structure has changed greatly from the past.

Among them, TV panels have formed a highly oligopolistic market. The top three Chinese panel makers including BOE, China Star Optoelectronics, and Huike together account for more than 60% of the global TV panel market. In addition, China Taiwan Innolux, which ranks fourth Optoelectronics has a total market share of more than 75%; if only calculating the total market share of panels in mainland China, it will exceed 65%, which has an astonishing influence on the supply of TV panels.Although the oligopoly situation of IT application panels is different from that of TV panels, basically a few major manufacturers have also won a very high market share in the world. Buyers seem to have more options for panel suppliers, but in fact they can only choose between mainland China, Taiwan and South Korea.

Taking notebook computer panels as an example, as of May this year, BOE, AUO, Innolux, and LGD accounted for more than 87% of the market share. The market share of the top six monitor panel manufacturers including BOE, LGD, AUOptoelectronics, China Star Optoelectronics, Huike, and Innolux exceeded 95%.
